This is the worst camera I have ever owned by far. Do not buy into the gimmicks about shock proof, just get a camera and look after it. Every single on of the photos it took on holiday are blurry, over exposed or grainy. I have used cameras for many years and will never buy this brand again. If it is going to break it is going to break. These strong cameras just muck up picture quality and that's it.
This camera makes the best pictures - in all types of weather and lighting conditions. So portable, fits easily into jeans pocket, purse, shirt pocket.
The Major drawback is FLASH, it whitens the picture awkwardly and picture loses its originality. I bought this in Dec 2007 and still in my use, I wouldnt say its awesome, but its average. in day light, beach, greenery, landscape its good but at evenings, indoor & in nights it doesn't deliver good results, picture becomes very much grainy. During the years of my use, I rarely used the Flash. Now I have just ordered Panasonic FZ35, Lets see how it will work.Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ35 12.1MP Digital Camera with 18x POWER Optical Image Stabilized Zoom and 2.7 inch LCD
I would just like to have better pictures of my son. But my son has definitely tested out the waterproof capabilities of this camera and tested the olympus shatterproof claim and they have held up.
I dont like the picture quality at all. I have a destructive toddler, and my parents wanted to buy me a new camera as a gift, and this is the one they got.
Ive tried every possible setting and either the flash is too bright, everything i take a picture of looks like its got about a week to live after watching some tragic video, too dark, or just plain blurry. My canon took way better pictures.
Id say about 1 out of every 30 of the pictures I take with this camera are post worthy. I guess its ok for now.
I plan on getting a Canon rebel after christmas for myself and giving this camera to my son.
We bought this camera with the intention of taking it outdoors for hiking, rock climbing, snorkeling, trail running, etc.Although the picture quality was not perfect, we were able to capture all our adventures on this camera. Any camera that can take a fall like that and still work, taking even more beatings over time, is amazing.I highly recommend this product to any outdoor enthusiast who is afraid of breaking their camera. When we took it Rock climbing in southwest Washington, I had it in my pocket on a snowy climb and it fell 35 feet out of my pocket, bounced on the rocks below and survived. The camera still worked perfectly. This one won't break. I hear their new camera, the "tough" is supposed to be even better.
